Whether you decide to have your return address printed, write them out yourself, use a stamp, or hire a calligrapher, figuring out your return address is more daunting than you might think! I've put together a few tips on placement, who's address to use, and ways to format the address for your reference!
WHO'S ADDRESS should I use?
First of all, designate who will be in charge of receiving the responses, and that's the address you should use. This could be the couple themselves, the bride or groom separately, Maid of Honor, parents of the bride or groom, etc. Be sure to check with the person and once they are on board to collect and organize the replies, go ahead and use them. Note that the return address on your wedding invitation should traditionally match the address on the response card envelopes. Traditionally the return address would go on the back flap of the envelope.
Return Address Format
Traditionally, it is recommended that on formal invitations names are not listed in the return address. While keeping this in mind, many brides are opting for a more casual vibe and you can choose to format them as your heart desires. It's also recommended that the bride and groom's names aren't listed together until after the wedding, so even if you live together prior to the wedding, if you are using your address you may want to consider only using the bride's name. Or use both and throw tradition to the wind or just list the address itself with no names, to keep all those Aunts and Grandma's happy.
If you are using just the address for the return address for the invitation envelopes, do keep in mind that you'll need to actually include a name/names on the response card envelope.
